Supporting your nanoparticles

VSPARTICLE would like to introduce the latest member to the VSP family, the VSP Powder Coater (VSP-PC). Combining the VSP-G1 with the VSP-PC brings us one step closer to tailoring supported nanoparticle catalysts. We are currently optimizing and validating the VSP-PC specifications to the demands of the catalysis community.  

Pre-production models will be made available for demonstrations and beta-testing in Summer 2020. Are you interested in a demonstration or would you like to be a beta-tester, we are looking for enthusiastic materials pioneers who are looking to ignite a spark into their research!

SHINERS for the (low) masses

VSPARTICLE are proud to highlight the first publication within the field of heterogeneous catalysis to employ spark ablation as a synthetic route. A recent publication from the Weckhuysen Research group, in collaboration with VSPARTICLE, showcased the advantages of spark ablation over conventional “wet” synthesis techniques for in situ Shell-Isolated Nanoparticle-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SHINERS) studies.

While conventional impregnation and colloidal synthesis routes were not suitable to prepare low transition-metal catalysts, spark ablation successfully deposited Ni nanoparticles on Au@SiO2 to produce catalytically active materials for in situ SHINERS studies. We see this as a significant achievement within SHINERS research that opens up the field beyond studying precious-metal based systems with SHINERS. This work showcased spark ablation as a new and promising technique to synthesize low transition-metal catalysts an study their surfaces under reaction conditions.
